Long Melford’s Black Lion hotel has reopened following a sensitive refurbishment by the new owners, The Chestnut Group. The changes to the bar, drawing room, conservatory, dining areas and bedrooms reflect the character and history of the building. The team there is now serving breakfast (open to non residents), lunch, afternoon tea and dinner seven days a week and the new menu focuses on uncomplicated and simple British food, influenced by the seasons. There are daily changing specials, plus rustic stone baked pizzas from the new oven.
The team at The Black Lion will include one student from The Chestnut Academy which was set up in 2015 to offer vocational training, and a guaranteed management position, for those wanting a career in hospitality.
